How To Get Fans To Tell You What They Want Using A Survey

Surveying your audience is a very important tool to get fans to tell you what they actually want from you. The #1 rule of surveys is…don’t call it a survey.

Listen Above or Watch The Video

Why To Survey Your Fans

  • Show them that you care
  • Give them a personal experience
  • Help you make business decisions for the future
  • Give you ideas you haven’t thought of and promote “outside of the box” thinking

Get Fans To Tell You About Themselves

  • Their age
  • Their gender
  • Their location
  • What other artists they like
  • This can all be used to help you know how to find more fans like the fans you already have. This can be particularly useful data for running Facebook Ads.

Get Fans To Tell You What They Want

  • What kind of music to put on your next CD
  • What covers you should learn
  • What merch they want to buy from you
  • Where you should perform

Where & How To Survey Your Fans

  • Use Survey Monkey, Type Form or Google Docs. There are many free options
  • Just ask a question by email or social media and ask for a responce
  • Send a survey by email
  • Use social media to ask questions
  • Survey at shows and use a contest as incentive

You will get so much valuable data from a survey of your fans. I recommend you do this at least once or twice per year.
